Our Story

Our uncle Youssef, or Joe as most people called him, owned and operated a very successful upholstery shop in downtown Des Plaines, Illinois called R&J Upholstery. My sisters and I would often visit our uncle at "the shop" and play amongst the numerous pieces of antique furniture. When we were old enough, we helped him manage the business by answering phones, picking up and delivering different pieces, and even helping him restore and reupholster priceless heirlooms. These experiences helped develop our passion for antiques, interior design and customer service. Beldi Home is a family owned and operated enterprise like R&J and believes in building strong relationships with its customers. Our uncle Joe taught us that owning a business isn’t only about making money... it’s about building relationships.

Another important part of our mission at Beldi Home is giving back to the rural communities and artisans that pour their heart and soul into making these beautiful pieces. We believe that the best way to give back is to invest in the education of the children in those communities. Unfortunately, Morocco has one of the highest illiteracy rates in Africa, which is why we at Beldi Home promise to donate 5% percent of all of our profits to literacy programs operating in the country. Our mother is originally from Morocco and it has always been a dream of ours to give back to the country of her birth. We believe that increasing access to education and teaching people how to read is the best way to do that.
